What is grammatical number?

מַהוּ מִסְפַּר דִּקְדּוּקֵי?

Grammatical number is a property of nouns, pronouns and adjectives that indicates whether they refer to one, two, or more objects. Verbs also conjugate based on the number of the subject preforming the action.

While the grammatical number of a word usually corresponds to the actual count of the object being referenced, it does not always such as with collective nouns.
