Hi, This is Michelle, Spanish teacher, today i am going to answer a question. How are the contractions used in Spanish? Well in Spanish we have just 2 contractions, the first one is with the preposition A and then the article EL. as a result we have the contraction AL. When we used AL. We used when we are saying that we are going to a place for example: I am going to the Restaurant, it will be... Voy AL Restaurante. I am going to the Bathroom...Voy AL baño. I am going to the park...Voy AL Parque. Also we can use this contraction AL, when we use simple present, for example I listen to the teacher...Yo escucho AL maestro. I see the singer...Yo veo AL cantante. The second contractions we have is with the preposition DE + EL. as a result we have the contraction DEL So when we use DEL? we are using this when we are saying we are coming from a place or come from a place. for example I come from the park...Vengo DEL parque. I come from the Restaurant...Vengo DEL Restaurante. We can use this contraction DEL when we are saying to whom belongs something: who is this Pencil? This pencil belongs to the child... El lápiz es DEL niño. we never use this contraction DEL when we are talking about city, a personal name or a country, for example I come from Peru will be in Spanish, Vengo DE Perú not DEL Perú. i hope this answer your question i hope to see you soon. Please book the class with me, bye.
