What is linguistic deixis?

Introduction 简介
Deixis describes the "point of reference", usually involve proximity or time, contained in certain words that can only be properly understood with context. For instance, in English the difference between "this" and "that" is matter of deixis. "This" refers to objects close to the speaker, while "that" refers to objects far from him or her.
